Too Soon

The melody of your voice still waltzes outside my door, and the dance of your smile still touches and soothes my ears.
The house echoes with the banter of your laughter.

And my eyes brim with pride at the thought of your smile
which grew up before my heart’s eyes.
You were my Gibraltar.
That reliable shoulder to lean on and a ladder to climb out of rough patches.
Your support gave me strength and your love restored my wings.

Now,
when my soul knows raw pain the confident stride of your shoulders recedes.
How do I continue this journey without the love of your watchful gaze,
the reassurance of your smile and the safety of your company?

My heart aches and my soul bleeds!

A cold dark fog has descended.
It preys on my mind which replays conversations,
relives memorable moments from yesterday and the day before,

and the day before that… to revive my soul,
numbed and hollowed out by ghosts of creeping grief.

I do not recognise this odd, emptiness imprisoning my heart,
here, at this unfamiliar intersection where dreams and nightmares collide.

I miss you already.
I want to hold your smile,

to touch your voice again,
and bask once more in the comforting shade of your presence.

My heart bleeds
and my soul aches….

What imagery and clinical yse if metaphors. It makes one believe tgat the author clearly has a person in mind as he writes.
I love the language and the rhythm evoked

So poignant, beautiful and touching… clearly brings out the joy of togetherness; the sorrow of parting; and yet the will to move on with the much cherished memories… will certainly treasure this one..
    Thanks your Excellency
